Monday 30th March
Firstly, I would like to thank you for your support during our first week of remote learning. I understand from your feedback that our students are engaged in their learning and our quality assurance system indicates they are open to a regular dialogue with their teachers. We are pleased it has started smoothly.
Please refer to the Remote Learning Offer we sent to you on Friday 20th March (available on our website) of key staff who are ready to help should you require any further assistance or if things are not running smoothly from home.
Our Pastoral Team are starting to contact home to check in on our students. This is a routine call and an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
We are mindful that Google Classroom could feel overwhelming for some students considering the large amount of resources/sessions on there. We kindly ask that you work with your child to plan their time against teacher deadlines and their normal school timetable, which can be found at the front of their planners. If you require any further guidance on deadlines, expectations on time allocation or have any concerns that are personal to your child please contact the Director of Learning for your child’s year group.
The George Spencer aim with our Remote Learning Offer is that ‘we start strong and then become even stronger’. With this in mind, Year 10 and Year 12 students will begin to notice an increase in expectations from their teachers as we try our best to ensure they keep up with their learning ready for Year 11 and Year 13.
I will continue to keep you up to date on our offer plus any additional information regarding your child’s learning.
Kind regards.
Mrs Corbett
