Computing

We believe that all children should be given the opportunity to engage in a broad computing curriculum that teaches them to be responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology. The skills we teach here will help our children to succeed in a rapidly changing world increasingly transformed by technology.

We teach computing through stand-alone-lessons and cross-curricular lessons throughout our WONDER curriculum because computing skills are a major factor in enabling children to be independent learners and these skills are developed throughout all subjects. We teach digital literacy skills, including e-safety skills, to ensure all our children are equipped to be safe, responsible users of technology. We also teach computer science skills so that our children are confident with basic computer programming. Furthermore, year groups will complete a 3D printer project in our Wonder Emporium! Information technology skills, using iPads and chrome books, are taught to equip our children to find, evaluate, analyse, exchange and present information responsibly and creatively. Children develop basic computer skills in the Early Years Foundation Stage and build on these each year.
